Who this care may be right for

Adults with fatigue, weight changes, temperature intolerance, hair changes, mood or energy shifts, or a family history of thyroid conditions may benefit from a thyroid evaluation. Women are more commonly affected, but men can have thyroid concerns too.

Thyroid symptoms overlap with hormone, metabolic and nutritional conditions, so a complete picture matters before treatment is considered.

Common symptoms and goals

Common concerns include persistent fatigue, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, feeling cold, dry skin, hair thinning, constipation, low mood, brain fog and, in some cases, palpitations or anxiety with hyperthyroid patterns.

Goals include understanding your thyroid status, identifying Hashimoto's or other autoimmune patterns, addressing nutrient factors and finding a treatment approach that fits your situation.

How telehealth thyroid care works

After a discovery call, you complete an intake covering your symptoms, history, medications and family history. Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM reviews prior labs and orders a full thyroid panel when appropriate, then discusses findings and options in a dedicated visit.

When complex or severe thyroid disease is present, care is coordinated with endocrinology as appropriate.

Labs that may be used

A full thyroid panel may include TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies such as TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies, along with nutrient markers like iron, vitamin D and others when relevant.

Labs are completed near you or with home kits where available, depending on your state and the tests ordered.

Treatment options that may be considered

Depending on your evaluation, options may include levothyroxine (T4), combination T4 and T3 therapy when appropriate, nutrient support, and lifestyle adjustments. Medications are prescribed only when appropriate after an evaluation.

Dosing is individualized and adjusted based on labs and symptoms, with regular monitoring.

Safety, risks and ongoing monitoring

Thyroid medication can cause over- or under-treatment, so labs are checked regularly and doses adjusted carefully. Certain symptoms, such as palpitations or significant weight loss, may signal too much thyroid hormone and should be reported promptly.

Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you have chest pain, a racing heartbeat with dizziness, or another emergency, call 911.

Cost of thyroid care

Care is provided through our programs and memberships. See the Pricing page for details. Medications and outside lab fees are billed separately.

Thyroid Care FAQ

What is hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism is an underactive thyroid, meaning the thyroid does not produce enough thyroid hormone. It can cause fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance and other symptoms, and is diagnosed with blood tests.

What is Hashimoto's thyroiditis?

Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid. It is a common cause of hypothyroidism and is identified with thyroid antibody testing.

What is a full thyroid panel?

A full thyroid panel typically includes TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies. It gives a more complete picture than TSH alone.

What is TSH?

TSH is thyroid-stimulating hormone, made by the pituitary to signal the thyroid. It is the usual first-line screening test, but it does not tell the whole story on its own.

What are T4 and T3?

T4 and T3 are the main thyroid hormones. T4 is converted to the more active T3 in tissues. Free T4 and free T3 measure the active, available portions.

What is reverse T3?

Reverse T3 is an inactive form of T3. It is sometimes measured when symptoms persist despite normal standard thyroid tests, though its clinical meaning is debated.

Why test thyroid antibodies?

Antibodies such as TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies help identify autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimoto's, which is a common cause of hypothyroidism.

Can thyroid problems be managed by telehealth?

Yes. Evaluation, labs and medication management work well by video visit, in states where Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM holds an active license. Complex cases are coordinated with endocrinology.

What medications may be considered?

Options may include levothyroxine (T4) and, when appropriate, combination T4 and T3 therapy. Medications are prescribed only when appropriate after an evaluation.

Do I need to see an endocrinologist?

Many thyroid cases can be managed in primary care settings. When thyroid disease is complex, severe or not responding as expected, coordination with an endocrinologist is recommended.

How is treatment monitored?

Labs are repeated at intervals and doses are adjusted based on your results and symptoms. Follow-up visits track how you are feeling.

Does insurance cover thyroid care?

Vitality Medicine RX is fee-for-service and does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available on request.
