Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is a whole-person approach to care that looks at how your health history, symptoms, lifestyle and environment fit together, rather than viewing each symptom in isolation. Vitality Medicine RX offers nurse practitioner-led functional medicine by telehealth, with care available in states where Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM holds an active license. Book a discovery call to discuss whether this approach fits your situation, or call (469) 224-9969.
Who is functional medicine for?
Functional medicine can be a fit for adults who want a more complete picture of their health: people with persistent or overlapping symptoms, those who feel their concerns have not been fully explored, and people who want to understand the factors that may be contributing to how they feel.
This approach does not replace conventional care. Many patients continue seeing their regular clinician and use functional medicine as an additional layer of evaluation and support.
Common symptoms and goals people bring to functional medicine
People come to functional medicine with a wide range of concerns, including fatigue, sleep problems, digestive issues, hormone-related symptoms, weight that is hard to manage, low energy, brain fog and general feelings of being unwell without a clear explanation.
Goals are equally individual: some patients want answers, some want a structured plan, and some want support making lasting changes to nutrition, sleep, stress and activity.
How telehealth functional medicine works at Vitality Medicine RX
Care begins with a discovery call, then moves through a detailed intake: your health history, symptom timeline, prior testing, medications and lifestyle. Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM reviews your records and, when appropriate, orders labs that can be completed near you or with a home kit, depending on your state and the tests selected.
Findings are reviewed in a dedicated visit, and you receive a written care roadmap with prioritized next steps. Follow-up visits and health coaching keep the plan moving.
Labs and testing that may be used
Testing is chosen selectively, based on your history and goals, rather than ordering everything available. Panels may include complete blood counts and metabolic panels, hormone panels, thyroid panels with antibodies, inflammation markers, micronutrient levels and, when clinically appropriate, more specialized testing.
Outside laboratory fees are billed separately and discussed in advance. Some specialty tests have limited evidence for certain uses, and that is part of the conversation.
Treatment options that may be considered
Depending on your evaluation, a plan may include nutrition and lifestyle guidance, sleep and stress support, activity planning, targeted supplements when appropriate, and coordination with your other clinicians. Prescription therapies are prescribed only when appropriate after an evaluation.
The goal is a plan you understand and can sustain, not a generic protocol.
Safety, risks and ongoing monitoring
Functional medicine is not a replacement for urgent or emergency care, and telehealth is not for emergencies. If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, stroke symptoms or another emergency, call 911.
Supplements and prescription medications can interact with each other and with existing conditions, so every option is reviewed in the context of your history. Progress is monitored with follow-up visits and repeat testing when appropriate.
Cost of functional medicine care
Care is provided through our programs and memberships. See the Pricing page for the structured 90-day programs and continuing memberships. Medications, compounded medications, peptides, supplements and outside lab fees are billed separately.
The practice is fee-for-service and does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available on request.
