Who this care may be right for

Adults who have struggled to manage their weight despite diet and activity efforts, who carry metabolic risk factors, or who want a structured, medically guided approach may benefit from an evaluation.

Eligibility for GLP-1 medications is determined by the clinician based on your history, labs, body mass index or metabolic risk, and any conditions that could make these medications unsafe for you.

Common goals

Goals typically include sustainable weight loss, better blood sugar and insulin control, improved energy, reduced metabolic risk and habits that last beyond the medication.

Weight loss is one part of a broader plan. Nutrition, activity, sleep, stress and, when relevant, hormone and thyroid factors are all part of the conversation.

How telehealth weight management works

You start with a discovery call, then complete an intake covering your history, weight journey, medications and goals. Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM reviews labs and orders appropriate testing, then builds a personalized plan.

Follow-up visits track progress, adjust the plan and provide coaching. Body composition and metabolic markers are monitored rather than relying on the scale alone.

Labs and monitoring that may be used

Testing may include a metabolic panel, A1C, fasting insulin, lipids, thyroid markers, liver enzymes and other labs based on your history. Body composition monitoring may be used where appropriate.

Labs are completed near you or with home kits where available, depending on your state and the tests ordered.

Treatment options that may be considered

When appropriate after evaluation, GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide or tirzepatide may be considered, prescribed only when appropriate and with clear discussion of benefits, side effects and monitoring.

Medication is one part of a broader plan that includes nutrition and lifestyle support. Compounded GLP-1 products are discussed separately and carry different regulatory considerations.

Safety, risks and side effects

GLP-1 medications can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and other side effects, especially when starting or increasing a dose. More serious risks are possible, including gallbladder and pancreatic concerns, and are reviewed before treatment.

These medications are not appropriate for everyone, including some people with certain thyroid, pancreatic or gastrointestinal conditions. Telehealth is not for emergencies: if you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting you cannot keep fluids down, or another emergency, call 911.

Cost of weight management care

Care is provided through our programs and memberships. See the Pricing page for details. Medications, compounded medications and outside lab fees are billed separately.

The practice is fee-for-service and does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available on request.

Medical Weight Loss and GLP-1 Medications FAQ

What is medical weight management?

Medical weight management is a medically guided approach that combines evaluation, metabolic assessment, nutrition and lifestyle support, monitoring and, when appropriate, medication.

How is eligibility for GLP-1 medications determined?

Eligibility is determined by the clinician after reviewing your history, labs, body mass index or metabolic risk, and any conditions that could make the medication unsafe for you.

What are GLP-1 receptor agonists?

GLP-1 receptor agonists are medications that affect appetite, digestion and blood sugar. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are examples, and they are prescribed only when appropriate after an evaluation.

What is the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?

Semaglutide targets the GLP-1 pathway, while tirzepatide targets both GLP-1 and GIP pathways. Both are prescription medications with different dosing, side effects and considerations, discussed individually.

What side effects can occur?

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and appetite changes are common, especially when starting. More serious risks are possible and are reviewed before treatment begins.

How is progress monitored?

Progress is tracked with follow-up visits, symptom review, body composition and metabolic labs such as A1C, insulin and lipids, rather than the scale alone.

Do I need to change my diet?

Nutrition is a core part of the plan. Medication works best as one part of a broader approach that includes food choices, activity, sleep and stress support.

Is medication the whole plan?

No. Medication is one component of a broader plan. The goal is sustainable habits that support your health beyond the medication itself.

What happens when I stop?

Weight regain is common after stopping GLP-1 medications if habits are not sustained. The plan focuses on building habits and monitoring so the transition is planned rather than abrupt.

Can weight management be done by telehealth?

Yes. Evaluation, labs, coaching and follow-up all work well by video visit, in states where Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM holds an active license.

Does insurance cover this care?

Vitality Medicine RX is fee-for-service and does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available on request.

Are medications billed separately?

Yes. Medications, compounded medications and outside lab fees are billed separately from program and membership fees.
