Who may be evaluated for BHRT?

Adults with hormone-related symptoms who want a careful evaluation may be appropriate candidates. This includes women navigating perimenopause or menopause and men with low testosterone symptoms, as well as anyone whose symptoms overlap with possible hormone changes.

Hormone symptoms can overlap with many other conditions, so evaluation matters before any treatment is considered. A hormone discussion does not mean hormone therapy is right for you.

Common symptoms and goals

People often seek evaluation for hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, mood changes, low energy, changes in libido, weight changes and other symptoms that may relate to hormone shifts.

These symptoms can have multiple causes, so a full evaluation, including appropriate labs, helps separate hormone factors from thyroid, metabolic, nutritional and lifestyle factors.

How telehealth hormone care works

After a discovery call, you complete an intake covering your history, symptoms and goals. Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM reviews prior labs and orders new testing when appropriate, then walks you through findings in a dedicated visit.

If hormone therapy is appropriate, dosing is individualized and monitored with follow-up visits and repeat labs. Dose adjustments are made based on your response and clinical judgment.

Labs that may be used

Hormone evaluation may include estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and thyroid markers as appropriate, along with a metabolic panel and other baseline tests.

Labs are completed near you or with home kits where available, depending on your state and the tests ordered. Outside lab fees are billed separately and discussed in advance.

Treatment options that may be considered

When hormone therapy is appropriate, options may include FDA-approved bioidentical products or compounded hormone preparations. It is important to understand the difference: FDA-approved products have been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness and quality, while compounded hormones are not FDA-approved.

Vitality Medicine RX does not claim that bioidentical hormones are safer or more natural than other hormones. The right choice depends on your individual situation and is discussed openly, including risks and alternatives.

Safety, risks and ongoing monitoring

Hormone therapy carries potential risks that vary by person, type of hormone, dose and delivery method. Risks are reviewed with you before any treatment begins, and monitoring includes follow-up visits and appropriate labs.

Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you have chest pain, sudden severe headache, vision changes, leg swelling or another emergency, call 911.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT) FAQ

What is BHRT?

Bioidentical hormone therapy uses hormones with a molecular structure identical to hormones the body produces. It may be considered when appropriate after an evaluation, and it is not automatically safer or more natural than other hormone options.

Who may be evaluated for BHRT?

Adults with hormone-related symptoms who want a careful evaluation may be appropriate candidates. Evaluation, not treatment, is the first step, and not everyone who is evaluated ends up using hormone therapy.

What symptoms can lead to a hormone testing discussion?

Hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, mood changes, low energy, changes in libido and weight changes are common reasons. These symptoms can have many causes, which is why evaluation matters.

How is hormone health evaluated?

Evaluation starts with a detailed history and symptom review, then appropriate labs such as estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and thyroid markers, interpreted in the context of your symptoms.

Are bioidentical hormones the same as natural hormones?

The term bioidentical refers to molecular structure, not origin. Bioidentical hormones are still medications, and they are not automatically safer or more natural than other hormone products.

What is the difference between bioidentical and synthetic hormones?

Bioidentical hormones have a molecular structure identical to human hormones, while synthetic hormones differ in structure. Both have evidence, risks and benefits, and the right choice depends on your situation.

Are compounded hormone preparations FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications, including compounded hormones, are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are sold.

Is BHRT safe?

Hormone therapy has potential risks that vary by person, hormone, dose and delivery method. Risks are reviewed with you before treatment, and monitoring continues throughout care.

How is BHRT monitored?

Monitoring includes follow-up visits, symptom review and appropriate labs. Doses are adjusted based on your response and clinical judgment.

Can hormone therapy be prescribed through telehealth?

Yes, in states where Dr. Miklos Major II, Sc.D., DNP, NP-BC, FAAMFM holds an active license. Prescribing follows federal and state rules, and your state is confirmed before any care begins.

What labs are used for hormone evaluation?

Testing may include estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and thyroid markers as appropriate, along with baseline metabolic testing.

How long before I might notice changes?

Individual results vary. Some people notice changes within weeks, while others take longer. Dosing is adjusted based on your response and follow-up testing.

Does insurance cover BHRT?

Vitality Medicine RX is fee-for-service and does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available on request.
